Product Description

Pope Leo X, Giovanni De Medici, came from a wealthy family. The influential De Medici family owned the Palazzo Pitti and founded the Uffizi museum. He received a humanistic upbringing and was literally groomed to join the Catholic Church. At the age of 14 he was already a Cardinal and in the year 1513 he was proclaimed Pope, he was only 38 years old at the time, making him the youngest Pope ever to head the Church. On the face of the coin is an image of Pope Leo X along with the country name CITTA DEL VATICANO (Vatican). In the centre of the reverse of the coin is the Papal Coat of Arms together with the current Pope's motto 'Miserande Atque Elegendo' (Chosen by Grace). The coin is presented in a numbered cassette and is supplied with a certificate of authenticity.
