Vatican BU 2019

This is the 2019 BU set of the Vatican. Since the introduction of the Euro in 2002 the Vatican has been issuing Euro coins. If there is a Pope he is normally depicted on the coins of the Vatican. The present Pope Francis I has decided that his image no longer needs to be on the coins of the Vatican. As of 2017 his image has been replaced by the Papal Coat of Arms. This is the coat of arms that he has been using since 1991 when he became Bishop of Argentina. At the top of the crest a mitre is depicted together with Peter's two keys. Centred on the crest are the letters IHS of Christ with a cross above. Furthermore, one also sees three black nails. The star refers to Mary and the grass refers to Joseph. At the bottom of the coat of arms is the Pope's motto miserando atque eligendo (called from / by mercy). The 2019 BU set Vatican consists of the entire series of Euro coins from the Vatican, i.e. the 1 cent 2019 coin up to and including the normal 2 Euro 2019. The Papal Coat of Arms is depicted centrally on the coins, around which is the country name Citta del Vaticano. On the bottom right of the coin is the year 2019. The coins are presented in a luxury package with a cheerful turquoise blue colour chosen for the year 2019.
