Product Description
This is the 2020 Vatican BU set. The Vatican has been issuing Euro coins since the introduction of the Euro in 2002. If there is a Pope, he is depicted on the coins of the Vatican. The current Pope Francis I has decided, in his simplicity, that his image no longer has to be on the coins of the Vatican. As of 2017 his image has been replaced by the Papal Coat of Arms. This Coat of Arms is a crest that he has used since 1991 when he took office as Bishop of Argentina. At the top of the coat of arms is a mitre with the two keys of Peter. Centred in the shield are the letters IHS of Christ with a cross above. Furthermore, three black nails are also shown. The star refers to Mary and the grass refers to Joseph. At the bottom of the coat of arms is the Pope's motto which is 'miserando atque eligendo' (called out / by mercy). The Vatican 2020 BU set consists of the entire series of 2020 Euro coins from the Vatican, i.e. the 1 cent coin up to and including the normal 2 Euro. The Papal Coat of Arms is depicted centrally on the coins, encircling which is the country name 'Citta del Vaticano'. The year 2020 is shown on the bottom right of the coin. The coins are presented in luxury packaging. The colour has grey has been chosen for the packaging for 2020.
