Vatican Coincard 50 Cent 2019 Nr. 10

Since 2010 the Vatican has been issuing a Coincard containing a 50 Cent coin from the Vatican.The coincard of the year 2019 is number 10 of this series. The special thing about this coincard is that there is no longer an image of the Pope on the coin. Pope Francis, in all his simplicity, has decided that his image should no longer be visible on the Vatican coins. From 2017 it has been decided to display the Papal Coat of Arms on the coins of the Vatican. The papal weapon is a coat of arms based on a shield that he has been using since 1991 when he was appointed Bishop of Argentina. At the top of the shield a mitre is depicted together with Peter's two keys. In the centre are the letters IHS with a cross above them. Underneath are an image of three black nails. The star refers to Mary and the grass refers to Joseph. At the bottom of the coin is the Pope's motto, which is miserando atque eligendo (called from / by mercy). The coin is mounted in a coincard with a picture of a cheerfully smiling and waving Pope Francis on the front. On the right side of the coincard is the image of the Papal Coat of Arms.
