Vatican Coincard 50 Cent 2020 Nr. 11

Since the year 2010 the Vatican has issued a Coincard containing a 50 Cent Vatican coin. The Coincard of the year 2020 is number 11 of this series of coincards. The special thing about this coincard is that there is no longer an image of the Pope on the coin. Pope Francis has decided in his modesty that his image need no longer be portrayed on the Vatican coins. As of 2017 it has been decided to depict the Papal coat of arms on the coins of the Vatican. The papal coat of arms is a crest based on a shield that Francis has used since 1991 when he took office as Bishop in Argentina. At the top of the coat of arms is a mitre with the two keys of Peter. In the middle of the crest are the letters IHS with a cross above them. Below that are three black nails. The star refers to Mary and the grass refers to Joseph. At the bottom of the coin the Pope's motto 'miserando atque eligendo' (chosen by grace / compassion) is shown. The coin is mounted in a coincard with an image of a cheerfully smiling Pope Francis on the front. Also, the name of this official coincard Nr. 11 of the year 2020. On the back of the coincard the technical data of the coin and the coincard is printed .
