Vatican Proof Set 2023 & 20 Euro Silver

This is the 2023 Vatican Proof set & Silver 20 Euro coin. Nine coins are packed in this set. These are the complete series of 2023 Vatican Euro coins and as an extra coin the 2023 special 20 Euro coin in Silver. Since the introduction of the Euro in 2002, the Pope has been depicted on the Euro coins of the Vatican. The current Pope Francis I has decided, in his simplicity, that his image no longer needs to be on the Vatican coins. Since 2017 his image has been replaced by the Papal Coat of Arms which is a Crest that he has used since 1991 when he took office as Bishop of Argentina. At the top of the coat of arms is a mitre with the two keys of Peter. In the centre of the crest are the letters IHS of Christ surmounted by a cross, there are also three black nails. The star refers to Mary and the grass refers to Joseph. At the bottom of the coat of arms is the motto of the Pope which is 'miserando atque eligendo' (chosen by grace). This coat of arms can be seen on all of the 2023 coins - i.e. from the 1 cent up to and including the normal 2 Euro coin. The text 'Citta del Vaticano' is also shown. The Silver 20 Euro coin depicts the 'Three Wise Men from the East' mounted on two horses and one camel.
