Product Description

The Estonian Singing Festival (in the Estonian language - üldlaulupidu) is one of the largest singing events in the world. The Estonian Singing Festival was first held in 1869 on the initiative of Johann Voldemar Jannsen. Johann Voldemar Jannsen has written many songs including the national anthem of Estonia 'Mu isamaa, mu õnn ja rõõm' ('My Fatherland, My Happiness and Joy'). The Estonian Singing Festival is held in July every five years, in Tallinn, and is visited by around 250,000 people. At the end of the Estonian Singing Festival all choirs perform together when more than 30,000 people sing! Since 2008 the Estonian Song Festival has been on the list of masterpieces of the oral and intangible heritage of the humanity of UNESCO. It is 150 years ago that the Estonian Singing Festival was organized for the first time and to commemorate this Estonia has decided to issue a special 2 Euro coin. The 2019 special 2 Euro 'Estonian Singing Party' is a musical coin. Three puppets, singing in full voice, are depicted. A number of musical notes are also shown on the coin. The year '2019' and 'EESTI' (Estonia) are also displayed. This special 2019 €2 'Estonian Song Festival' coin is mounted in beautiful blue coincard. The circulation of this coincard is 10,000.
