Product Description

This is the complete set 'In der Luft' (in the air) that consists of coins produced in all 5 German Federal mints. Germany has released, in 2019, a 10 Euro coin with a white plastic polymer ring for the first time. The development of this coin has brought many different professions to the fore. The plastic must be heat and cold resistant. Water must not have any influence on the coin and the polymer ring must not be influenced by UV radiation, chemicals, etc. The European Union has also given instructions to incorporate plastic into a coin in order to build in even more collateral to avoid counterfeit currency. The theme of the coin is the movement of the air, and the coin is the first in a three-part series. There will be one issue per year 2019, 2020 and 2021. On the face of the coin a paraglider flying between the peaks of mountains is depicted. Interestingly, paragliding often involves searching after so-called thermals. These are warm air currents in the mountains and when a paraglider flies in it, he can sometimes raise hundreds of metres into the air. On the reverse of the coin, in the outer ring of the coin, are the 12 stars of Europe, the country name Bundesrepublik Deutschland, and the value indication of 10 Euro. The German eagle, on the reverse of the coin, fits well with this theme as eagles like to fly in the mountains! The year 2019 is also shown. The coin has been minted at the five different federal mints which are identified by letter struck onto the coins - A = Berlin, D = Munich, F = Stuttgart, G = Karlsruhe and J = Hamburg. This series of coins include coins from all five of these mints.
