Germany 2 Euro 2018 Coincard Helmut Schmidt

In the weekend of 2 to 4 February 2018 the World Money Fair took place in Berlin. This is the largest coin exchange in the world. During the World Money Fair an official coincard was issued by the German Verkaufstelle van Verzamelaarsmunten (coin collectors sales office). The special 2018 German 2 Euro coin æHelmut SchmidtÆ is mounted in this official coincard. Helmut Schmidt (1918-2015) was one of the most important German Federal Chancellors. He was born and died in Hamburg. Obviously, the coin in this coincard was struck in Hamburg (represented by the mint letter æJÆ). The German coins with the letter æJÆ are struck by the Hamburgische Münze (Hamburg mint). Every year there are about 650 million coins and medals struck here. Approximately 45 employees work there and therefore it belongs to the smaller coin houses. The issue of this coincard is very low, only 1,000 copies and was sold out at the Berlin World Money Fair in no time!
