Product Description

Peter Behrens was a famous German artist, architect and designer. He is considered the inventor of the "Corporate Design". Peter Behrens (1868 û 1940) is regarded as the pioneer of modern industrial design. He was one of the most important artists at the beginning of the 20th century. He designed various buildings, e.g. for Mannesmann, Continental and Hoechst. The most famous building he designed was the legendary Turbine Hall of AEG in Berlin. His inspiration in the various buildings resulted in industrial buildings being very beautiful. To commemorate the 150th birthday of Peter Behrens, Germany has issued a special coin of 20 Euro. On the face of the coin is a portrait of Peter Behrens looking to the right. In the background the Turbine Hall of AEG in Berlin is depicted with its characteristic large vertical windows. In an arc is the text "150. Geburtstag Peter Behrens". On the reverse of the coin is the German Eagle, where it is striking that the wings are in perfect harmony with the lines of the windows of the Turbine Hall on the face of the coin. At the top of the coin is the country name Bundesrepublik Deutschland (Federal Republic of Germany), the 12 stars of Europe are divided equally six to the left and six to the right of the country name. At the bottom of this beautiful silver coin is the value indication of 20 Euro along with the year 2018. On the right side of the coin is the letter "A", this indicates the location of the mint which is Berlin. The text around the edge of the coin is "IM UEBRIGEN AUTODIDAKT" (For the rest self-taught).
