Product Description
The first special silver 20 Euro coin issued by Germany in 2019 has as its theme 100 Years of Womens Right to Vote. On January 19, 1919 women in Germany were able to vote in the parliamentary elections for the first time. On the face of the coin a group of standing women are depicted. At the top of the coin is the text 100 Jahre (100 Years) together with the text Frauenwahlrecht (Womens Voting Rights) in a banner. In the year 1908 several laws had been abolished that prevented women from participating in political activities, but women were only allowed to vote for the first time in 1919. On the reverse of the coin is an image of the stylized German Eagle with the 12 stars of Europe below. The country name Bundesrepublik Deutschland (Federal Republic of Germany) is shown in an arc together with the year 2019. At the bottom of the coin is the value indication of 20 Euro. Above the date is the mint letter D which indicates that this coin is minted in Munich.
