Product Description
Malta 2 Euro 2023 'Napoleon Bonaparte'. Napoleon Bonaparte was a French general and dictator who was born in Corsica on 15th August, 1769. He committed a coup d'état in 1799 and had himself proclaimed Emperor of France in 1804. During his reign he managed to bring a large part of Europe under his authority. Malta had already been under French rule since 1798, but Napoleon Bonaparte later had an important role in this. He introduced, among other things, free education and freedom of the press. Because the French occupied Malta 225 years ago and Napoleon Bonaparte played an important role in this, Malta has decided to issue this special 2 Euro coin. On the face of the coin is the text '225TH ANNIVERSARY ARRIVAL OF THE FRENCH IN MALTA'. The French sower is depicted together with the year of issue, 2023, and the years 1798-2023. This coin is presented in an attractive package, the edition of which is just 70,000 copies.
