Malta BU 2017 Blister Valletta

Valletta, the capital of Malta, is the cultural capital of Europe in 2018. On the way to this special event, Malta will issue a series of three BU sets spread over three years. In 2016 the first set was issued and this 2017 set is the second of the series. Malta, which is strategically located in the Mediterranean, has been inhabited for thousands of years. The coin set of 2017 describes that since the fall of Napoleon until about 50 years ago Malta was a British colony. On the front of the set is the top portion of the æVictoria GateÆ with the British Coat of Arms showing a lion to the left and a horse to the right. On the back of the set the Old Main Guard building, built in 1814 in the neoclassic style, is depicted. The set comprises the complete series of 2017 Maltese Euro coins. The coins were struck in France which is indicated by the letter æFÆ that is visible in the lower star of the coins. The issue of this set is only 5,000 copies.
