|Theme||Slag bij Waterloo|
|Category||Other special euro coins|
The Battle of Waterloo took place on 18 June 1815. It is 200 years since this battle took place and that is why this special coin the æWaterloo FiveÆ was issued. This coin is coloured, and the special thing about this coin is that it is coloured on both sides! It is the first Dutch Euro coin that is coloured on both sides and perhaps the first Euro coin in general that is coloured on both sides. The æSteekÆ (Hat) is reproduced as much as possible in the authentic colours. This also applies to the face of King Willem Alexander which is extremely stylized in colour. Furthermore, the text on the coin is displayed on both the front and the back in the colour orange. The Battle of Waterloo is known as the most famous battle in modern history. It was the final defeat of Napoleon. The French army fought against an alliance of armies from Prussia, Hanover, England and the Netherlands.
