Product Description

Netherlands 5 Euro 2021 Anton Geesink First Day. Anton Geesink was a Dutch judoka who was European champion, World champion and Olympic champion. Anton Geesink was a decent opponent with a height of 1 metre 98 and a weight of 120 kilos. In 1997 Anton Geesink achieved the 10th dan, making him one of the highest graduated judokas in the world. After his golden career he opened his own judo school, where he was himself a teacher. He wrote a lot of teaching material about judo that is still used worldwide. He clarified the game of judo by introducing a second suit, one opponent plays in white, the other in blue. On the face of the coin is an image of Anton Geesink. The 20 circles represent 20 seconds, which is how long a hold must last to win a judo competition. His name 'Anton Geesink' is also shown, together with the value indication of 5 Euro and the year of issue, 2021. On the reverse King Willem-Alexander is portrayed encircled by the Kodokan symbol. Kodokan is the first judo school in the world, founded in 1882 in Tokyo. This is the 2021 Netherlands 'First Day of Issue' 5 Euro coin 'Anton Geesink' as described above. This coin is packaged in the standard Dutch first day of issue envelope.
