Product Description

On 7th February, 1992 the Treaty on European Union (Maastricht Treaty) was signed in Maastricht. With this treaty part of the EU agreement authorized the European Parliament. This treaty mainly focuses on a common security and cooperation in the field of justice and business within European communities. Due to the Maastricht Treaty the Euro currency came into effect in 2002, resulting in many collectors in Europe collecting the various coins. To commemorate the fact that, 30 years ago, the Maastricht Treaty was signed, the Netherlands has decided to issue a special 5 Euro coin. On the face of the coin, the Government Building in Maastricht is depicted. Furthermore, 12 stars are connected to the Government Building via tubes. These tubes and stars represent the initial 12 Euro member countries. On the reverse of the coin a multi-pointed star with the 12 stars of Europe surround the central portrait of King Willem-Alexander. This coin, as described above, is packed in the standard Dutch First Day of Issue Envelope.
