Portugal 5 Euro 2019 Iberian Wolf

The Iberian wolf is a small wolf species that only occurs in Portugal and Spain. These wolves live mainly in the rocky regions of Portugal and Spain and have wide legs to enable a good grip in these areas. Iberian wolves live in groups and often hunt deer, birds, rabbits and hares, but these wolves also eat berries and other fruits! In total there are only 2,000 Iberian wolves, a highly endangered species. The number of Iberian wolves is still decreasing due to the disappearance of their habitat and the fear that people have with these beautiful animals. To prevent the Iberian wolf from becoming extinct there are several zoos that have these wolves, with the aim of the wolves being released into the wild. On the face of the coin is an image of the head of an adult Iberian wolf along with the text 'LOBO-IBERICO CANIS LUPUS' (Iberian wolf). On the reverse of the coin a wolf with two cubs are depicted. The country name of Portugal, the year 2019 and the value of 5 Euro are also shown. The coin is packed in a printed coin holder.
