Portugal 7,5 Euro 2017 Alvaro Siza

Portugal has issued a pair coins that have the theme of Portuguese Architecture. The first coin of this pair has the theme of Alvaro Siza. Alvaro Siza is a world-famous Portuguese architect who won the prestigious Pritzger Prize in 1992. Siza has a unique way setting down modern building styles with a traditional character. Most of Alvaro Siza's works are found in and around Porto, but various works of his are to be found around the world. In the Netherlands these can be found in Maastricht (Céramique) and the æNew Orleans TowerÆ in Rotterdam. On the face of the coin is the main entrance of the Igreja Santa Maria Church in Marco de Canavezes (Porto). Additionally the text is Arquiteto Alvaro Siza is shown. On the right hand side of the coin you will see the weapon of Portugal. On the reverse of the coin is the back of the church described above, with the text Republica Portuguesa, the year 2017 and the value of 7.5 Euro.
