Product Description

This is the second special Euro coin from the series of Sport Coins that Portugal publishes. These special Sport Coins have a Nominal value of 7.5 Euro. The Portuguese Athletes shown on these coins have been of great significance to Portugal and the rest of the world. The theme of this second Portuguese silver 7.5 Euro coin is Rosa Mota. Rosa Mota made history in 1982 when winning the first official Marathon for women. In the past it was thought that women could not run more than 3000 metres! This has long since become obsolete! Rosa Mota not only won the first Marathon for Women, she also won Olympic gold and was world champion as well as European Champion. She is affectionately called "Our Rosinha" in Portugal to this day and will be a source of pride and admiration for generations. She is still fully fit and by the end of June 2018 she will be 60 years old. In honour of her special achievements Portugal has issued a special Euro coin with a nominal value of 7.5 Euro. On the face of this silver coin Rosa Mota is portrayed looking to the right. On the right side of the coin, in a semicircle, is the text æRosa MotaÆ and the year 2018. On the reverse of the coin the country name Portugal and the value indication of €7.50 are shown. Furthermore, a small version of the coat of arms of Portugal is depicted. On the upper right side of the coin are the legs of a number of runners.
