Portugal BU 2019

The 2019 Portuguese BU set has the theme 'Pottery'. This Pottery, from the Alto Alentejo region, has a characteristic colour because it uses a special type of clay. This colour has been brought back to use on the packaging of this BU set. Women, in particular, made decorated pieces that all have a basic function - storing fresh water to quench the thirst of farm workers and to keep it in the house. Portugal gives extra attention to nature this year and has therefore made the BU set from recycled paper. You immediately feel from the BU set of 2019 that you have no plastic in your hands. The 2019 Portuguese BU set contains all 8 coins - the Portuguese 1 cent 2019 up to and including the normal 2 Euro of Portugal 2019. The images on the Portuguese coins are based on ancient Royal stamps from Dom Afonso Henriques. The 1 cent, 2 cent & 5 cent coins show the Royal seal from the year 1134. The 10 cent, 20 cent & 50 cent coins show the Royal seal from the year 1143 and the 1 Euro and 2 Euro coins show the Royal seal from the year 1144. In a circle the five crests and the seven castles from the Coat of Arms of Portugal are depicted. Between these crests and castles is the country name Portugal and the year 2019. In the outer ring of the coins are the 12 stars of Europe. Various 2019 coins from Portugal will not come into circulation!
