Portugal FDC 2020

The theme of the 2020 FCD (Fleur de Coin) set of Portugal is 'Embroidery of Madeira'. Since the 1850's this delicate embroidery is created by Madeiran embroiderers using floral inspired motifs. Madeiran embroidery is highly sought after, and sold and admired, all over the world. The Portuguese 2020 FDC set contains all 8 coin denominations, i.e. the 2020 Portuguese 1 cent coin up to and including the normal Portuguese 2 Euro coin. The images on the Portuguese coins are based on ancient Royal seals of Dom Afonso Henriques. On the 1, 2 & 5 cent coins the Royal seal from the year 1134 is pictured. On the 10, 20 & 50 cent coins the Royal seal from the year 1143 is shown whilst on the 1 Euro and 2 Euro coins the Royal seal from the year 1144 is displayed. In a circle are the five coats of arms and the seven castles from the coat of arms of Portugal. Between these coats of arms and castles are the country name, Portugal, and the year 2020. In the outer ring of the coins are the 12 stars of Europe. Various coins of Portugal 2020 will not come into loose circulation.
