San Marino 2 Euro 2018 Bernini

Gian Lorenzo Bernini (1598-1680) was an Italian sculptor and architect. He had the ability to combine Sculpture and Architecture perfectly. With his talent he was able to realize beautiful works in the form of the Roman Baroque. Well-known works by him are the bust of Constanza Bonarelli, the Cornaro chapel and Peter's canopy in St. Peter's. His most famous work is Saint Peter's Square designed by Bernini. In the year 2018 it is 420 years since Bernini was born and to commemorate this San Marino has published a special 2 Euro coin. On the face of the coin is an image of the bust of Constanza Bonarelli, made in 1640. She was the wife of one of Bernini's pupils and Bernini was madly in love with her! On the left side of the coin is the name of the country, San Marino, with the years 1598 and 2018 next to it. On the right side of the coin is the name Bernini.
