Spain 30 Euro Museum del Prado

In 2019 Spain has issued a 30 Euro coin with the theme 'Museo del Prado' (Prado museum). This museum, located in Madrid, is one of the largest art museums in the world and was opened in 1819. The museum has works that date from the 14th century to the 19th century. One of the best known works is the oil painting 'Las Meninas' (the Court ladies) painted by Diego Velázquez in 1656. This large oil painting is no less than 318 X 276 cm in size! A detail of this oil painting is displayed on the face of the 30 Euro coin. Also on the face of the coin the text 'MUSEA DEL PRADO 200 AÑOS' (Prado Museum 200 years) is displayed. On the reverse of the coin King Felipe and Queen Letizia are portrayed. Their names are shown in an arc at the top of the coin. At the bottom is the country name ESPAÑA (Spain) together with the year of issue, 2019. The coin is packed in a printed coin holder.
