Malta 2 Euro 2022 UNC 'Hal Saflieni Hypogeum'. The Hal Saflieni Hypogeum is an underground complex that was both a cemetery and a temple. Hypogeum is Greek for 'Under the Earth'. The construction of this complex began more than 6000 years ago. The Hal Saflieni Hypogeum is over 500 square metres in size! The complex, which was accidentally discovered in 1902, has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1989.
