Rainier III (Rainier Louis Henri Maxence Bertrand Grimaldi) reigned over Monaco for 56 years, from 1949 to 2005, and was one of the longest reigning monarchs of Monaco. He reformed the Constitution of Monaco, but was most famous for his marriage to the American actress, Grace Kelly. Rainier III was born 100 years ago on 31st May, 1923, which is why Monaco has decided to issue this special 2 Euro coin. On the face of the coin is a portrait of Rainier III.
