Spain 2 Euro 2020 Mudejar Architecture of Aragon Proof

Since 2010 Spain has issued a 2 Euro coin every year, centred on a building of a particular region. The theme of this coin is the Mudejar architecture of Aragon. The Mudejar architecture of Aragon developed in the province of Aragon at the end of the 12th century. When Christians reclaimed large tracts of land from the Muslim population in the 12th century the population remained in harmony with each other. The architectural style that emerged is a mix of Islamic and Gothic ideals and led to a unique architectural style. In the province of Aragon there are 10 monuments, four of which are located in Teruel and three in Zaragoza. The Mudejar Architecture of Aragon received UNESCO status in 1986 and is a World Heritage Site. On the face of the coin is the tower located in Teruel 'de El Salvador'. In an arc at the top of the coin is the text 'Arquitectura Mudejar de Aragon' (Mudejar Architecture of Aragon). On the left side the country name ESPAÑA (Spain) is displayed vertically and on the right side the year of issue, 2020, is shown.
