Spain 2 Euro 2022 'Juan Sebastián Elcano'. Spain has issued a 2 Euro coin in 2022 looking back to the First Sailing Voyage around the world. 239 men left Seville in 1519, led by Juan Sebastián Elcano, to circumnavigate the globe. The fleet consisted of 5 huge sailing ships. Only 18 of the 239 men survived the gruelling voyage and only Elcano's sailing ship, the Victoria, managed to complete the journey. This voyage is still known today as one of the bravest sailing trips in the history of Spain. On the face of the coin is an image of Juan Sebastián Elcano. Furthermore, the country name ESPANA (Spain) and the years 1519 and 2022 are also shown. The coin is packed in a printed coin holder.
