Product Description
The Ir. D.F. Woudagemaal (Wouda Pumping Station) is the largest steam pumping station in the world. The Woudagemaal has only one task which is to pump excess water, that falls onto Friesland (a province in the north of the Netherlands), into the IJsselmeer. The steam pumping station is still active today! An enormous amount of water is needed to feed the steam pumping station which is why a large canal has been dug behind the station. The Woudegemaal can be found on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The face of the coin depicts the steam pumping station that is fed from one side and displaces the water in four different directions. The immense steam tower is, of course, striking. The name of the pumping station is shown 'IR. D. F. WOUDAGEMAAL' together with the text 'Nederlands Werelderfgoed' (Dutch World Heritage) and the years 1920 - 2020. The value indication of 5 Euro is shown at the bottom of the coin. On the reverse of the coin King Willem-Alexander is portrayed with his beard! This is the first time that the king has been depicted with his beard. Behind this image the flag of Friesland is shown. This coin, as described above, is mounted in the standard Dutch numbered Coincard. The quality of the coin is BU.
