The Netherlands Coincard 2021 'The Euro Five Guilder'

The Netherlands has issued a Coincard with the theme of the '2000 European Football Championship'. This Euro 2000 Coincard looks back on the special football year 2000 in which the Netherlands was defeated in the semi-finals by Italy with penalties. France eventually became European Champions in 2000. It is the only 5 Guilder commemorative coin the Netherlands has ever issued! In 1988 the 5 Guilder note was replaced by a 5 Guilder coin - the 5 Guilder notes wore out too quickly, which is why it was decided to issue a 5 Guilder coin. The face of the coin featured a stylized portrait of Queen Beatrix, whilst on the reverse of the coin a football is depicted with the texts 'EK 2000' and '5 GULDEN'. This special 5 Gulden (Guilder) coin was issued in a Coincard and was completely sold out within an hour! Due to limited stock there is a maximum 2 coins per person.
